User centred design

testing the interface design with patients

Building a user friendly system

User centred design (UCD) focuses on the user's needs to produce a user friendly system.

In the development of the mihealth we have worked in collaboration with following people to design a system that meets users needs.:

  • Patients
  • Support group volunteers
  • Healthcare professionals
  • Health researchers
  • Digital content experts

The benefits of UCD

This approach has enabled us to determine
  • The range and type of information that should to be made available through the system

  • The most appropriate way to structure and display information for ease of access and understanding

  • An interface that requires little time to learn
  • A navigation system that is easy to use and lets users access information quickly and efficiently

Meeting the needs of patients

Mihealth has been further developed in response to patient feedback from the independent evaluations and will continue to develop the system ensure that mihealth meets the needs of its users and that they can utilise the system in the course of their daily lives. Our current pilots will enable us to continue to develop the system to support patient needs as we expand the service.
