mihealth originated as the inspiration of Jane Wood after her diagnosis of breast cancer in August 2000. The concept for mihealth was developed at the International Centre for Digital Content (ICDC) at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) in 2001 where Jane worked as a project manager exploring the use of new technologies in educational contexts.

The system was piloted with breast cancer patients at the Linda McCartney Centre at Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust during 2005/2006 and Royal Victoria Infirmary - Newcastle. Read more

As interest in mihealth grew and with a determination to see the system made widely available to patients, mihealth Ltd was formed in 2005 as a spin out company with the intention of rolling the service out to the healthcare sector.
